Cheryl and I moved from Sandpoint, Idaho to Wenatchee in October 2005 and bought the Kress building in January of 2006. After three months of remodeling, we opened Performance Footwear. When we first opened, we occupied one half of the main floor for our specialty running shop and rented the other half to Nu-Art Gallery. After one year, Nu-Art Gallery moved to the Wenatchee Valley Mall in East Wenatchee and we remodeled the other side of the building and started to carry hiking boots and lifestyle clothing. Two years ago, we remodeled the basement and are now carrying tents, sleeping bags, backpacks and accessories. As many of you know, we put in a four bedroom, two bath condominium and have lived above the business for six years. We love Downtown Wenatchee, everything is very convenient when you live at the heart of downtown: restaurants, library, health club and now Pybus Public Market. Our backyard is downtown and it’s exciting to see all the positive changes happening in our neighborhood. We love to snowshoe, mountain bike, trail run and hike. Wenatchee is a great place to live and raise our three kids, although two of them are now grown and gone. We feel blessed to live in such a wonderful community.
